We seem to be having better luck with our flyer than most. However
when we got 4.04B upgrade, we had trouble. every operation got slow.
very slow. finally I noticed that every time I hit a button the
CD-rom would run for a while before it would do any operation. I was
unable to correct the problem until I disconnected the scsi connector
to the cdrom. I t works fine now but I have no cd rom. I tried to
reinstall 4.03. that would not work, I presume because 4.04B wiped
out some file.

Any way we have a working system sans cdrom. we are using five 9 gig
micropolis drives for video and one 4 gig seagate for audio.
occasionally we get stutter just before a digital transition. We then
move the next clip to another bus. This always seems to do the trick.

I agree with most that this is a terribly buggy system that needs a
major overhaul in its operating system.  I suspect from my experience
that if you do enough clip deletions on a drive, eventually it will
cause a serious problem with the drive. We avoid clip deletions like
the plague. We do a project. back it up on our exabytel, and then
format all drives that we have used.

BTW we have been wanting to do multiple graphics layering, and had to
use another toaster as an input to do it. But we tried 4.04b and
found that now we can digitize a clip with any graphic used as a
linear key. This then allows infinite layering and allows us to keep
the same key over multiple clip dissolves.
